Singapore Art Museum

“Live Dig! Don’t Feed the Archaeologist!” As part of the 2018 Singapore Heritage Festival, the impact assessment excavation was open to the public. The archaeology team members and processes became part education, part outreach, and part art installation. Visitors to the museum and passing pedestrians were able to view and engage with archaeologists at work on the front lawn of the Singapore Art Museum. A large timber trunk and what appears to be wooden posts were uncovered preserved in the anaerobic silt from the nearby Sungei Bras Basah creek. This timber feature may possibly be part of a trackway leading across the marshy ground in the past.
